GLOSSARY INQUIRY: TEACHABLE MOMENT

Those wonderful but rare moments when individuals in class come together into a more complex knowing unity.

Such moments cannot be described as either teacher-focused or student-focused; instead the conversation or subject matter itself becomes the focus of interaction—signalling the development of a collective learning unity.

Complexity science offers useful advice on how to prompt the emergence of such complex unities in the classroom (see Conditions for Emergence).
